The club felt it needed to have a 009-gauge layout to display and this one started life as a donated N gauge layout, which with a few modifications, was converted to 009 use.
The layout needed the gorges widening slightly and the tunnel portals raised. The bridge was also rebuilt from a straight girder one, to a curved stone one.
The fiddle yard at the rear was changed from a three sidings format, to a four track traverser.
The layout currently runs on analogue control, but can easily be run on DCC with a change of controller.
The layout name Dyffryn y Rhaeadr means ‘Valley of the WaterFall’.
